Excellent. I love those Nov 78 shows. 11/24 is a wild ride too. Check the Shakedown.

But I find myself in the mood for Mr. Pen today, so I'm dialing up the Angels benefit from 1970..

Ah yes. A good month to see your first GD shows :-)

And yet, sigh, there seem to be no good full recordings of my Show Number One, 11/16/78, and only a partial of Number Two, 11/17/78, which is overshadowed by the Rambler Room that same day. What IS it with those shows?!? I swear a remember seeing tapers at the Uptown.

At least there's a good CM remix of 11/18/78. (Number Three! Yes, saw the whole run, except for the Rambler Room ... went from zero to 90 in one week.) Probably not a top 10 '78 show -- hard for me to judge, given the personal factor -- but a fun, hot show. Weirdly, I have the most vivid recollection of the DONNA song, which I didn't recognize at the time. (From the Heart of Me). I think I felt she was off vocally and was kind of perplexed by her singing, but that could be hindsight. I do remember her coming forward and singing. Maybe I just liked her hair and wanted to look like her, LOL.

There's some really interesting fly-on-the-wall stage banter at the end of that tune, when the SBD catches the boys cussing each other out. Truly pissed, or good-natured semi-pissed ribbing, or what? Who knows. Funny, though.

I think I remember reading that this is the show where Jerry met eventual-girlfriend-and-mom-of-child Manasha when she gave him a pumpkin from the audience. I remember roses during Jack Straw, when I was coming in, but don't remember any pumpkins ...

I stand corrected by Cliff (see above) -- call it TDIH-7.

How about this one? I'm not sure why this show always gets over looked. I have two guesses, one because there were so many great shows just in November '73 and because when the Deadhead's Taping Compendium came out this show didn't circulate. So there were no reviews of it. I got it on tape around 2000 and let it go by the wayside for years for that reason. I think this could be the sleeper show of year.

Your warning gives me pause. After all, I've been stockpiling furniture for the absolute juggernaut of a China/Rider from tommorrow's '79 TDIH. Not sure the budget can afford one more, but what the hell, you only live once.

If this goes badly, you may owe me a chair.
